As a consequence of the aging process, certain distinct facial features become evident which may not be perceived as a youthful appearance. These include: jowling, skin laxity, wrinkles, and an overall sagging face as a result of gravity on the tissues. Many times the rhytidectomy (facelift procedure) can correct these visible signs of facial aging. There are a few different types of facelift procedures that can be performed depending on the amount of correction which needs to be done. The mini-facelift procedure is the most popular option which results in less downtime, and less invasive surgery, and is often the best choice to correct mild to moderate facial aging signs. Patients are very delighted from this procedure in that the face appears rejuvenated without the overdone, pulled back look of a conventional facelift. These procedures can be performed in the office setting with or without intravenous anesthesia. Consult with Dr. Kim about the options to correct the aged facial appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where are the incisions made? Incisions are well hidden in a natural crease just in front of the ears and behind the ears for the facelift. If you normally wear your hair short, you may want to consider growing it out a little in order to cover the incisions during the healing process. Below you will see pictures of one of Dr Kim’s patient’s in front of the ears incisions just 3 months after a facelift procedure.
How long is the procedure? The facelift procedure will be done in the office operatory located in the 7155 Turner Road office. This procedure takes approximately 2-3 hours to complete.
What can be expected after the procedure? Patients report very little pain after the facelift procedure. The most common complaint is bruising and swelling following the procedure. A video testimonial of one of Dr. Kim’s patient outlining how she felt the first, fourth, seventh and fourteenth day after the procedure can be found by going to Video Testimonial of Post Surgery Facelift.
How long will I need to alter my normal routine? You have just undergone a surgical procedure. You will need to restrict your normal actives, exercise regimens and any activity involving heavy lifting or straining for a period of time. It is acceptable to do some light waling 72 hours after your surgery. Jogging and light non-contact exercise should not be resumed until at least three (3) weeks after surgery. Strenuous sports will require at least six (6) weeks of recovery time before they can be safely resumed.
How about driving? You will need someone to drive you home from the surgical procedure. You will also need to refrain from driving for as long as you are taking prescription pain medications.
What can I do to ensure the best result? There are several things that you can do to prepare for a successful surgery. If you smoke you should not smoke four (4) weeks before the facelift and four (4) weeks after the facelift. If you consume alcohol you should not consume any one (1) week prior and for one (1) week following your facelift. Do not attempt to lose weight in the two (2) weeks prior to surgery. Proper nutrition is essential for correct healing. A list of recommended supplements can be found on the Surgical Instructions site, Pre-Operative Instructions for Facial Cosmetic Surgery.
